Oslo-listed gas carrier owner Awilco LNG has announced a strategic rebranding initiative following the departure of long-serving chief executive Jon Skule Storheill. The company, known for operating modern LNG vessels like the WilForce and WilPride, is entering a new corporate phase under fresh leadership. This rebranding effort follows a period of transition for the Norwegian shipping firm, which remains a key player in the global liquefied natural gas transportation sector, focusing on efficient energy logistics and fleet modernization.
The rebranding process requires strict adherence to international maritime standards, particularly regarding vessel documentation and classification society requirements under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Chapter V. Compliance departments must ensure that all ship-specific manuals, safety management systems, and statutory certificates are updated to reflect the new corporate identity. Furthermore, adherence to MARPOL Annex VI regarding air emissions remains critical for these LNG carriers, as any change in operational management must be documented to maintain compliance with port state control authorities.
This transition primarily impacts masters and navigating officers who are responsible for updating shipboard documentation and official logs to reflect the new corporate branding. These officers must ensure that all bridge procedures, safety signage, and communication protocols align with the updated company name to avoid discrepancies during port state inspections. Maintaining accurate records is essential for seamless vessel operations and ensuring that all regulatory filings remain consistent with the company’s new legal identity.
