CYTUR Inc. has officially secured an Approval in Principle (AiP) from Lloyd’s Register for its CYTUR-MG (CYTUR Maritime Guard) solution, marking a significant milestone in maritime cybersecurity. This certification confirms that the system is Digital Twin Ready, providing a robust framework for securing naval and commercial vessels against evolving cyber threats. As digital integration accelerates across global fleets, this validation from a leading classification society ensures that critical shipboard systems remain resilient against unauthorized access and potential data breaches.

This development aligns with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Resolution MSC.428(97) on Maritime Cyber Risk Management in Safety Management Systems. Under the SOLAS Chapter XI-2 requirements and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, operators are mandated to incorporate cyber risk management into their safety protocols. By achieving this AiP, CYTUR-MG assists compliance departments in meeting rigorous class requirements, ensuring that digital twin architectures do not introduce vulnerabilities that could compromise vessel navigation, propulsion, or cargo monitoring systems during international voyages.

For chief engineers and second engineers, this advancement signifies a shift toward managing sophisticated onboard cybersecurity infrastructure. These officers must now familiarize themselves with digital twin monitoring tools to ensure system integrity. They should prepare for upcoming vessel audits by verifying that cybersecurity software remains updated and integrated within the existing shipboard maintenance management systems, ensuring seamless compliance with the latest Lloyd’s Register standards during port state control inspections and annual surveys.
