GAC has issued critical port updates regarding infrastructure maintenance across key Asian maritime hubs. Starting 12 May 2026, the Yung Shue Wan Helipad in Hong Kong will undergo extensive repair works lasting approximately seven months, potentially impacting emergency medical evacuations and crew transfers. Simultaneously, Singapore authorities have scheduled marine soil investigation works near Jurong Island from 14 May to 13 July 2026. These developments require proactive voyage planning to ensure safe navigation and adherence to local port authority directives.

These infrastructure projects necessitate strict compliance with the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Chapter V, specifically regarding Regulation 34 on safe navigation and voyage planning. Masters must ensure that passage plans account for restricted zones and potential hazards identified by the Singaporean and Hong Kong port authorities. Furthermore, under the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006, operators must ensure that medical evacuation contingencies remain viable despite the temporary closure of the Yung Shue Wan facility, prioritizing the health and safety of the crew.

Masters and navigating officers must update their electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS) with the latest Notices to Mariners regarding the Jurong Island exclusion zones. Deck officers should verify that all emergency response protocols are adjusted to account for the unavailability of the Yung Shue Wan Helipad. Maintaining clear communication with local port agents is essential to avoid potential delays or safety violations during these scheduled maintenance periods in Hong Kong and Singapore.
